smile.

This little picture and story puts makes me smile every time I see it.

happiest moment of your life

...Here we are yet again at the end of summer wondering where it went. I've had a very eventful and sunny past 3 months. We were able to take a few trips here and there, hike around the neighborhood and have friends visit. Summer has been kind to us, BUT! The fall. Oh, fall. I love you so much. The evenings are starting to have that crisp to them again. I wore a jacket a few days ago! It was amazing.

12,183 feet above sea level.

Speaking of RMNP. Trail ridge road finally opened up! It's one of those places that makes you cry it's so freaking beautiful. Particularly the clouds during this trip were epically amazing. We've been up to Rocky twice in the past few weeks and it's a nice reminder of how lucky we are to be living in such close proximity. I LOVE COLORADO PERIOD.

where the elk roam

My birthday has once again come and gone and I'm suffering from the usual post-birthday sadness. Sean is just a gem and made my birthday ultra special this year. Firstly...he MADE me a terrarium, with his very own hands. I am so proud. Secondly he took me on a hike and birthday hikes are the very best.

Thanks S, love you from the bottom of my heart.

feast your eyes: garden of the gods

new but already feels old

We are here!

In our new place that already feels so much like a home we've lived in for years and it's remarkably beautiful.

Also surprisingly and not so surprisingly for Boulder; one morning Sean saw a lady walking three goats and a dog....this sounds like a lie, but it would be a dumb one to make up if it is. Which it is not.

Also let me tell you, when the magic of a new places wears off you may find yourself strangely depressed. I have become very homesick as of late being so far from my closest friends and family. Family and friends. That's where it's at! Well I'm not...at...? BUT! I still am very happy and filled with gratitude. Carry on.

louie's story (for posterity purposes)

So there was this one day/whole month where we were moving states and it was wild. Wild in the sense that nothing was solid. Sean and I were both very busy finding jobs, looking for a place to live, pretending like we had friends, you know! The new-to-the-neighborhood stuff. So Sean, being the over achiever and hard worker he is, found a job rather quickly. Monday-Friday. While I had a job Saturday and Sunday. So obviously that was working.

Rather terribly.

Well on one of those weekdays that I was home alone, I went and bought a few plants. Just to liven up the place and my whole life.

I was lonely and plants are always the solution.

Then a few days past and I realized they indeed did not talk nor did they give hugs.

I then began to troll the local humane society website. There were so many sad cats, dogs, gerbils, mice...I think there was a chameleon. Whatever the animal, it was very sad and lonely. Just like me. AND they had these awful timelines. The longer they were housed there the been cheaper they were...I saw a dog for $20.00...that is literally cheaper than the organic chicken we bought for thanksgiving. Awful.

It quickly escalated from there. I was just nonchalantly scrolling through pictures on my computer when suddenly I found myself parking my car at the shelter. I strolled in and decided that the least I could do was go say hi. So there I was, unbeknownst to Sean, walking around making new dog friends. I have to note that the music they play in there is really good marketing. It's this sweet, angelic solo piano that you would imagine playing at a funeral. And to top it all off, the dogs there were howling these sad notes, and some were barking because they just want to get out and then there was one who was sitting so close to the cage his fat was hanging out. That was Louie.

I sat down on the ground next to his kennel and he leaned in closer. I stuck my hand up and he lifted up his paw and we certainly high fived. I looked over his profile and information, which was not a major selling point. He was returned by a family just the day before for being uncontrollably boisterous and before this shelter he was being housed at the 'dumb friends league'....(I know that dumb just means the inability to speak but I am not into that name)... But lucky for him I have a soft spot from dummies such as himself. I then had to break the news to Sean that we were going to get a dog. He came and at first was a little mad because we really didn't have the means or the time to get a dog but was immediately captivated by the quiet piano melody, Louie's charm and we left hand in hand in paw.

And that's how we came upon Meriwether Lewis.

have a latte

It's just been great. It was 80 degrees today.

We finally found our next apartment. The housing market here is literally the pit of hell and it is such a relief to know that we don't have to search anymore. I was so excited that I forgot to check which direction the windows are facing, which is a big deal to me and Louie...fiddle leaf trees and sun bathing are a priority here.

I also started a new job. There has been so much change in the last couple weeks. I feel like I'm constantly being twirled around. Hopefully this is the last of it for a while, I'm ready to just settle in to a regular routine. Hope you are having a great monday!
